HPB (Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary) surgery is a subspecialty of surgery specific to benign and malignant diseases of the liver, pancreas and biliary tree. HPB surgery can be complex and requires specialized training and/or experience. HPB Surgical Procedures
Complex hepatic (liver), pancreatic, and biliary surgeries, including:
- Liver resection (major and minor)
- Liver tumour ablation
- Pancreas resection for benign and malignant disease (including Whipple procedure)
- Bile duct resection
- Bile duct repair
- Complex gallbladder resection
All of these surgical procedures (including major pancreatic surgeries and the Whipple procedure) can be performed minimally invasively when appropriate, through the use of robotic or laparoscopic surgical techniques.
